The Success Club Concept

The Success Club Concept stemmed from the notion that it could serve as an innovative way to insure the highly touted Super Tips For Success Program (STFSP) can be delivered to post-secondary and selected secondary level students presently being denied from having the STFSP implemented on their campuses.  Despite its attributes, the STFSP – considered a mold-breaking and highly needed program by educators and students at both levels – is being held back from adoption by educational institutions.  This is apparently due to the directives of higher-level stakeholders who are prohibiting the implementation of non-revenue producing innovative programs on campuses they control.

In the earlier stages of planning the implementation of Pilot Success Clubs was seen as a viable alternative for bringing the STFSP’s personal empowerment strategies, formats, and success tips not available in regular courses of study to selected student groups outside school time. Unfortunately, however, this approach was also blocked.  The high level educators at both levels – who lauded the program’s potential for fulfilling a definite need – were apparently prohibited from accepting the offer of a cost-free Pilot Success Club, as well as from announcing this offer to their students.

In view of these blocks to the advancement of success-oriented persons, the program developer was advised to focus his attention on the folk he originally intended to empower – those entering and participating in the professional ranks, and those whose educational pursuits will be facilitated by the program. These advisors presumed: 1) that after many others attested to the benefits of this program, the widespread attention it deserves will be gained, 2) that some self-controlled and forward-thinking institutions will take steps to sponsor active club units.

This led to the decision to utilize electronic means as the principal mode for offering this much needed program to members to social and other organizations whose members wish to influence others by displaying the knowledge and skills resulting from that will emanate from participating in the dynamic Success Club environment.

The Success Club Formats Presently Available

At present, two (2) Success Club formats are available:
1.  For Involved Educators and Institutions that wish to empower certain student groups with the STFSP materials.  These may wish to do so as a course of study, or as a pure Success Club unit with meetings being held at off-campus locations.  (These may elect to use the original Student Textbook, The Workbook, and The Teacher’s Edition).

2.  For All-Around Success Club Member groups, including the following:

  • Members of university level social organizations; e.g., sororities/fraternities.
  • Teachers and other educators.
  • Mid-level Managers.
  • Mid-level leaders.
  • Success Club unit members; e.g., active duty, reserve, or, national guard personnel; missionaries, inmates.
  • Parent groups or individual parents involved in life skill development

Methods For Implementing The Program

There are two standard methods of implementing Success Clubs and Success Club UnitsThe Formal Method and The Informal Method.  In both, the facilitator guiding the program is responsible to Vanguard Success CDC for: 1) submitting the application for establishing a Success Club unit, and 2) completing the documents necessary for Vanguard Success CDC to prepare Certificates of Completion for unit members.

A Success Club established under the provisions of Vanguard Success CDC is one that normally consists of one or more 20 to 25 separate member units established within an organization.  If more than one unit is established in a single organization, each is a Success Club unit.  Although units bear the name approved for the club, each will be designated by a letter of the alphabet or a number.

The Formal Method
The formal method is selected when the primary facilitator is to be compensated on a regular basis for guiding the Success Club unit through program completion.  (In some cases, facilitators may elect to oversee and guide multiple units)  A facilitator may be an entrepreneur, a professional, teacher, or an organizational member who has taken on the responsibility of organizing the unit, arranging for a meeting facility, and who agrees to the records keeping and compensation arrangements established by Vanguard Success CDC.

The Informal Method
The informal method is selected when the facilitator is a volunteer trainer, a holder of The Vanguard Success CDC Certificate of Completion, or a leading member of the Success Club proper.  Individuals serving in this capacity do not receive compensation for guiding the members through program completion – they use the directions within the Teacher’s Edition or the Facilitator’s Edition.

Implementing The Formal Method

As implied when describing the formal method, the facilitator receives payments on a regular basis for his her services during the period taken to complete a Success Club units program.  The funds for these payments may be provided by 1) the facilitator’s parent organization, 2) an outside funding source, or 3) they may be derived from the membership fees assessed on club unit members and provided to Vanguard Success CDC to dispense on a contractual basis after the completion of each 5 hour segment.  It is anticipated that the program can be completed within 100 hours – meaning that the recipients(s) of this pay will receive a total of 20 checks during the course of the program.

Assuming Vanguard Success CDC is required to compensate the facilitator using funds provided to it by outside funding sources developed by the facilitator, or by membership fees which the facilitator may also solicit from outside funding sources.  While additional information can be provided by contacting vanguardsuccess.com, the following, based on a membership population of 20 to 25 members, is intended to serve as an example, and as an assist to facilitators in determining the funding they need, and pay they can expect to receive.

Example

(This example assumes a Success Club with a minimum of 20 members)

Membership Fees & The Application Process: The application fee of $5.00 per club member is due at the time the application packet designating units to be served is submitted (See the sheet, Application For The Establishment Of A Success Club).  A membership fee of $300.00 has been established for club membership in 2011, with at least one-half ($150.00) of this amount due upon approval of the application.  The remaining portion will be due in accordance with the agreement between Vanguard Success CDC and the primary facilitator.

Membership fees: Fees will be utilized to cover the following:

  • Two (2) books per member — a Program Text & a Student Workbook (Basic Manual & Advanced Manual & Workbook).
  • A facilitator’s packet containing 2 books, reporting materials, etc.
  • Contractual payments of $3000.00 ($150.00 x 20 sessions) for the Primary Facilitator.
  • Program administrative costs
  • Certificates of Completion.

The Application Process: Two forms are used in completing the application process.  These are: Form 1 — Application For The Establishment of A Success Club, and Sheet A — an attachment to Form 1.

Suggested Methods For Implementing The Success Club Program

The Optimum Club Setting

The optimum method recommended is to conduct the program in a Success Club Unit setting consisting of from 5 to 25 like-minded achievers.

  • This setting allows for full utilization of the 2 unique manuals developed for club members, as well as the two to be used by the facilitator.
  • This setting also allows for group participation in orderly discussions of additional topics designed to automatically extend knowledge, reasoning abilities, and vocabulary building.  In addition, it urges the adoption of concepts and personal philosophies useful in dealing with a wide variety of issues pertinent to the advancement of one’s capabilities.

Alternate Settings

  • For smaller groups, couples, and individuals who prefer smaller or quieter learning environment, it is recommended that the 3 books be on hand in hard copy form.
  • For individuals who are strictly visual learners, the books are available in e-Book form; however, the purchase of the full e-Book package is recommended for program integrity.
