A Symposium On Becoming An Exceptional Player In The Modern Society

ABOUT THE WRITER

Holland E. Bynam, a retired educational administrator and a retired U.S. Army colonel, has developed seven short speeches that he considers foundational for setting oneself apart from others as a player in the modern society.  He selected the symposium format for presenting these speeches because the recurring theme in each refers to acquiring skills that gives one an edge on one’s peers in the success arena, and because they may appeal to audiences as either singular or multiple presentations. These topics have been extracted from his recent book that reveals a wide array of success tips on topics that are not covered in regular training programs.  This book is entitled “On Being a Better You.”

His portfolio of writings stem from his military and civilian experiences.  While on active duty he received awards as an instructor, instructor team-chief, commandant of 3 military schools, Professor of Military Science at the university level, and as commander of three combat battalions and the world famous 5th Special Forces Group.  His civilian educational assignments, equally award-winning, included service in the secondary school system as a teacher, coordinator of an at-risk enrichment program, curriculum supervisor, and as program director of a school district’s department hosting twenty-five high school Junior Reserve Officers Training Corp (JROTC) programs. Because of the national recognition given one of the nation’s largest JROTC programs under his supervision, he was awarded the Meritorious Service Citation by this school district’s Board of Education in honor of his commitment to student achievement.

Following his retirement from the secondary school system, he served as coordinator and program consultant at the university level during two summer programs designed to empower entering freshmen students.   These assignments led to his being convinced that the student-based behavior problems besetting our educational institutions stem from the students not being successful; and that their not being successful stems from their not being given the motivational outlooks, tips, strategies, and skills needed at the secondary school and college levels. In an effort to counter this oversight, he developed several programs dedicated to increasing student success and to alleviating the major issues that plague our schools and universities.

Each of these works have been praised as the most advanced yet for empowering students, and for positively addressing institutional problems that involve attendance, study habits, low grades, student-based behavior, and the dropout problem. These, along with his educational blogs which may be viewed on website, allaroundsuccessbooks.com, include: a three-book program developed to empower secondary and post-secondary students with tips on topics not covered in regular training programs, entitled “Super Tips For Success”; a three-book program developed to provide a variety of professional audiences with a litany of success tips, entitled “All-around Success in a Nutshell”; a thirty-five minute DVD developed to broaden success-oriented student outlooks, entitled “6 Super Tips For Success”; and an unpublished writing experiment designed to give teenagers an edge in life, entitled “The Exceptional Teenagers Development League.”

In providing a synopsis herein of each of his seven short speeches, his aim is to show that each will play positively in helping individuals become higher achievers in the social, educational, economic, and workplace communities of the 21st Century.  His intention is that a publicist will assist by selecting audiences whereby one or more of these speeches can be delivered.
