Understanding Organizations

Deliverables:  In discussing this topic, I talk about “The Three Levels of an Organization.”  I break down the hierarchy of persons located at the top, middle, and bottom levels of informal and formal organizations; describe the general work performed by individuals within each level; and explain the manner in which people can best contribute to both their personal and their organization’s success.  In addition, I speak about the appraisal system used within organizations, the work of appraisers, and the art of garnering good appraisals.

Takeaways:  As a result of this discussion, the audience will have their horizons widened about how organizations are established, about the functions of individuals at the three organizational levels, and they will understand that fitting in and meeting the individual and team-player expectations at each level of work will always be assessed and evaluated by a higher authority.  In addition, the success-oriented among these will understand the manner in which to accrue an upward mobility advantage; how to keep themselves and their bosses out of trouble; and what is necessary for ascending to the top rungs of an organization.
